5 Minutes With... Screen Rescue Lincoln & Doncaster Franchisee, Adam Collins
Franchisor, co-founder and director of Screen Rescue, Amanda Hilario recently caught up with franchisee, Adam Collins and said, “We are absolutely delighted to introduce our genuine motorhead franchisee, Adam Collins:

Adam was made redundant in 2023 after working in the Security sector for 20 years, where he worked his way up the chain to managing national and regional clients along with 300 employees and saw his redundancy as an opportunity for a new challenge - doing something where he could enjoy the benefits of his hard work.
When researching franchise websites he had certain criteria in mind: a scalable business where he could meet new people and build relationships, so he was no longer sat behind a desk and he wanted to see a return on his investment within 18 months.
Here in his own words, is what franchisee, Adam had to say…
What events made you decide to start your own business?
I was made redundant in December 2023 after working in the Security sector for 20 years. I had started at the bottom and then worked my way up the chain to eventually managing national and regional clients along with 300 employees. When I was made redundant, I really fancied a new challenge where I could enjoy the benefits of my hard work.
Who trained you from your onboarding day?
Franchisor, Jaime ran the repair, sales and H&S compliance operational training course over two weeks. The training was laid out step-by-step starting with the different types of screen chips, glass scratches and headlight restoration with the methods of repair. Franchisor, Amanda then delivered the financials operational training from invoices and materials ordering to end of month management reports.
You launched your business in July 2024, now you're approaching the 2-year benchmark, what are your ambitions for your franchise?
I'm totally invested in what I now do so my future plans are to grow my business further in my Lincoln and Doncaster territory and I aim to bring on a technician to operate in these as other franchisees have done.
What attracted you to the Screen Rescue franchise opportunity?
Searching different franchise websites, I had certain criteria in mind; a business that allowed me to meet new people and build relationships; no sitting behind a desk; also scalable to see returns on my investment fast. There were lots to choose from, but it was Screen Rescue's introduction information that caught my eye.
How have you found the franchise systems and day-to-day processes in place?
To be fair the franchise systems and processes are very straight forwards. You don't need to be a wizard with spreadsheets and full training is provided in every area of the business. All you need to know is how to use a mobile and how to scan invoices and attach documents. I switch off and relax as soon as my emails are sent every evening and know my invoices are being dealt with the very next day.
So what do the next 12 months hold in store for you?
As soon as I have positioned my Lincoln & Doncaster territory and business so it supports me and my technician in a strong way - and I'm nearly there on that front, revenue wise - then I will possibly invest in another franchise territory. Any sister territory is ideal, so I have my eyes on a few that surround me.
How did you find the funding assistance and set-up process?
During initial discussions with Amanda, I was informed that there were several funding paths open to me. Full payment of the franchise fee and my working capital was needed. I paid the fee and took out a business loan for my working capital. Amanda helped me write the business plan to secure the loan and with her HSBC relationship it went through quickly.
You're approaching 24 months of trading as Screen Rescue Lincoln & Doncaster. Has being your own boss given you a better work/ life balance?
Over the last two years my work/life balance has completely changed for the better. I now have more spare time and a lot less stress. I can plan Saturdays off when I want to race - I have a pretty full on hobby racing my track bike. Some race days take over my weekends so I just plan my client repair schedules around them. It's a real win-win.
What advice would you give to any other potential franchisees looking to invest in a Screen Rescue franchise?
That is an easy answer. If you want to invest, don't waste time working for someone else. With the help of Screen Rescue franchisors, Jaime and Amanda, invest in yourself and come on board. There's no better time, so what are you waiting for!
