Elliott extends Ovenu franchise after turning dyslexia challenge into business success

Elliott Robinson has signed a new five-year franchise agreement for his successful oven valeting service, Ovenu Solihull.

The deal will take him up to his 24th year of trading, making him one of Ovenu’s longest-serving franchisees across its UK network.

The 47-year-old, who has dyslexia, launched the business in 2007 to create a more secure future for himself and his family. He had previously worked in a warehouse but felt his prospects were limited by misconceptions around the challenges he faced reading and spelling.

Recognising that he needed to be his own boss to reach his full potential, he has gone on to build a thriving business, restoring the sparkle to more than 12,000 ovens.

Elliott said: “Extending my franchise agreement by another five years was a pretty easy choice, as I still enjoy the work, love meeting people, and really appreciate the loyalty of my clients, many of whom have become friends.

“Working for myself was a real turning point and going down the franchise route gave me the reassurance of a proven system, plus the training, structure and ongoing support. It allowed me to show what I’m capable of and to build something secure for my family.

“My dyslexia doesn’t define me, and I hope my experience shows others facing similar challenges that they are more than capable of running a successful business.”

Over the years, Elliott has also supported several local charities, including St Basils, Autism West Midlands, and Community Essentials, as well as taking part in the Big Birmingham Sleepout.

Ovenu Solihull covers B90 through to B93 postcodes, including Solihull, Shirley, Dickens Heath, Marston Green, Kingshurst, Dorridge, Hampton-in-Arden, and surrounding areas.

“Elliott is a valued franchisee and a great example of someone who has stuck at it and built a strong reputation over many years. We’re delighted he’s staying with us for at least another five years.”

The Ovenu process involves dismantling key oven components - such as doors, interior panels, fans, and shelves - and cleaning them in design-registered tank equipment using safe, non-caustic, and biodegradable products. The service leaves ovens in near showroom condition and also covers hobs, extractor hoods, microwaves, and range cookers.
