Former boiler sales manager Dan ignites new venture with Ovenu Bedford
After years spent on the road selling gas boilers, Dan Denton is now turning up the heat on a new business venture with the launch of oven cleaning service Ovenu Bedford.
The 48-year-old, who lives in the town, decided to become his own boss after spending three decades in the plumbing and heating industry – a move that will allow him to spend more time at home with his two teenage sons.
Looking for a business opportunity offering both independence and support, Dan chose to invest in the Ovenu franchise, attracted by a recognised brand, proven business model and established support network.
Following the retirement of long-serving franchisee Paul Green last year, after almost two decades running the business, Dan is focused on reconnecting with former customers and introducing Ovenu Bedford to a new generation of clients.
He previously rose to become branch manager for a plumbing merchant before becoming a product sales manager for a gas boiler manufacturer, responsible for a large sales area stretching across southern England and Wales.
“I've spent my working life helping to build businesses for other people, so I felt the time was right to do something for myself,” he said. “Ovenu offered the right balance of independence and support.
“My previous role involved a lot of travelling and overnight stays, whereas now I'm working in my local area and spending more time with my two teenage sons.
“I've always enjoyed dealing with people, and take pride in doing a good job, something I know clients will value.”
Long term, he hopes to grow Ovenu Bedford to the point where he can employ an additional oven cleaning technician and put a second van on the road.
Away from work, Dan is a keen cricketer who currently plays for Thurleigh Cricket Club, having represented several clubs across the Bedford area over the years.

Ovenu Bedford covers the MK40, MK41 and MK44 postcodes, including Bedford, Biddenham, Great Denham, Clapham, Sharnbrook, Riseley, Roxton, Blunham, Yelden, Little Staughton and surrounding areas.
The Ovenu process involves dismantling key oven components, including doors, panels, fans and shelves, before cleaning them in specialist, design-registered tank equipment using safe, non-caustic and biodegradable products. The service restores ovens to near showroom condition and also covers hobs, extractor hoods, microwaves and range cookers.
