Ali Hoy discusses his time as a ChipsAway Franchisee

Going for growth!

A great deal can happen in a year, as franchisee Alistair Hoy can testify. Ali opened a ChipsAway CarCare franchise Centre only six months after his initial franchise business launch as a ‘man and a van’ franchise operation, in line with his original business plan. Subsequently, he took on his first employee to help cope with escalating demand, then when he hit £10,000 per month turnover, Ali decided to take on a second employee – and all this before reaching his first year milestone!

“I had big plans for my ChipsAway franchise from the start,” Ali confirms. “Now there are five of us in the team, as my wife Susan and son Sam have joined to help with the marketing and estimating side, and we're averaging £1,000 per day turnover with a target of £250,000 per year.”

Excitingly, Ali has now moved into a premises over double the size of his first franchise CarCare Centre, which will allow him and his team to process cars much more efficiently.

“We've invested in a spray booth and alloy wheel restoration equipment, both of which enable us to achieve consistent growth, and we're considering introducing a shift system to enable us to effectively double our turnover!

“A successful business doesn’t just happen when you buy a franchise. You have to have passion for what you do, be prepared to work at it and believe in yourself,” he says. “I've found setting goals to be key in helping us achieve our ambitions, and once we reach that goal, we set it higher! It takes a lot of commitment, but the rewards are most certainly there and very much worth the effort we've put into getting where we are now - onwards and upwards!”
