fit20 recession proof business model sees success in 2022
Despite what you may hear in the news it is far from all doom and gloom for business. fit20 UK has seen an increase in location count and studio membership this year. We have been nominated for, and won awards. And, most recently enjoyed celebrating our successes with fit20 founders, Walter Vendel and Bram Kroeske, at our Annual Conference last month.
Bucking the trends of traditional gyms, fit20 studio memberships are up by 67% and our studio numbers are increasing. We opened our first studio in Scotland this year and are due to open studios in Birstall Leicestershire, Dorking, Halifax, Harrogate, Henley, Nantwich, Torbay, and East London in early 2023. The positive performance of fit20 is in contrast to the traditional gym sector, with the state of the Fitness Industry Report 2022, released by The Leisure Database Company, finding that there has been a drop in club sites and membership numbers.
It is no surprise then that fit20 have won a number of awards this last year, not least of which was Silver in the category 'International Brand', at the first ever European Franchise Federation Awards held in Brussels in September. Duncan Attwood, studio owner of fit20 Exeter, won the Great British Franchisee Award 2022, organised by whichfranchise.com. The bronze award in the Franchisor category “Marketing Excellence” was awarded to fit20 at this year’s Virtual Franchise Awards, organised by the Quality Franchise Association (QFA) and sponsored by Barclays. Lux Health, Beauty and Wellness awarded us the title of “Most Accessible Fitness Training Programme 2022”. We can’t wait to see what 2023 will bring, although we have already been shortlisted for “Best Technology & Innovation” in the upcoming Virtual Franchise Awards awards in 2023!
