Lakeland Verandahs Cardiff office is motoring ahead

There’s no requirement to be an industry specialist to open one of the remaining outlets of Lakeland Verandahs franchise. Lots of its franchisees have entered into the UPVC decking and fencing business from other professions, including the owner of its Cardiff territory, Neil Phelan.

Before investing in the operation, Neil had been involved in the automotive industry all of his life, producing hi-spec motor vehicles and components, having achieved qualifications in mechanical engineering and project management.

He owned a manufacturing business for 13 years, so was very well-versed in not only supplying quality products, but also ensuring that customer requirements were met to a standard unsurpassed by any of his competitors.

Looking to do something different, he scoured the market for over a year for the right opening.

That moment eventually came when he was approached by a business broker, who introduced him to the Lakeland Verandahs team.

A meeting was set up for Neil to chat to them and the rest, as they say, is history.

“I was impressed with the level of professionalism and the amount of support offered by Russell and his co-directors. This professionalism was also strongly reflected in the standard of the product. What persuaded me further was that when I was doing my due diligence exercise, the SWOT analysis showed that the existing decking and fencing competitors could not compete with Lakeland. They had very little coverage in South Wales. This, together with the fantastic marketing support, made my decision to join the Network a complete no-brainer.”

Someone who likes to lead by example, Neil is confident that 2021 will be a great introductory year into the region for his Cardiff franchise. He relishes the hard work it will demand to register a catalogue of satisfied customers.
