How have you found running your own business?

I have loved running my own business. The freedom I now have to make my own decisions and knowing that what I put in on a day-to-day basis shapes the direction the business is going to head. Don’t get me wrong it’s not been all smooth sailing as the running of a business was completely new to me but learning the new skills required is all part of the fun and the support from Eddie and the team at HQ has been second to none!

What are your ambitions for the franchise?

I have plans for continued growth by the way of securing more contracts with schools and to continue with the growth of our Active camp venues. We also are yet to tap into certain revenue streams that are available for us and over the next 6 months that is defiantly something I will be looking to dive into. In the long term I have a vision to further expand the business into new territories and continue to inspire and encourage children to lead healthier lifestyles.

What was your turnover in your first year of trading?

Having not yet completed my first year of trading I am predicted to generate revenue of £80,000 - £85,000 in the first year and with an operating profit margin of 30%.

What hurdles have you had to overcome since starting?

For me the main hurdles included anything related to the finance side of running the business as it was all completely new to me. On top of that something that was a massive challenge and was important I got right was hiring my 1st full time members of staff.

What has the support been like from the head office?

Head office have been brilliant from day one and continue to do so. We recently finished our first annual training week at head office and myself and the staff that travelled down gained a lot from the experience are looking forward to next year. Eddie has been brilliant he is always available to help with any queries or problems I may have and is in constant communication with new ideas on how to continue to grow the business.
