Tutor Doctor franchisee wins national women in business award

Lynne Kerrison, franchisee for Tutor Doctor Cambridge, is celebrating a remarkable milestone after being crowned Woman Franchisee of the Year at the prestigious NatWest Encouraging Women into Franchising (EWiF) Awards 2025.

Now in its 13th year, the EWiF Awards recognise the innovation, dedication and leadership of women across the franchising industry. Lynne’s recognition is a proud moment not only for her, but also for the entire Tutor Doctor network and the community she continues to serve with passion and purpose.

“To have been named Woman Franchisee of the Year is incredibly humbling. This journey with Tutor Doctor has been so much more than a business – it’s been about making a difference. Winning this award is a reflection of the hard work and heart that our entire team puts in every single day.”

Since launching Tutor Doctor Cambridge over 14 years ago with her husband Rob, Lynne has demonstrated a relentless commitment to educational excellence. In 2024 alone, the business delivered nearly 200,000 hours of tutoring and achieved a 9% growth through the company’s innovative School’s Delivery Programme.

But it’s the personal touch and community impact that truly set Lynne apart. From pioneering new programmes for vulnerable children in partnership with the Cambridge Sports Development Foundation, to helping students rebuild trust and confidence through tailored tutoring and mentoring, her work goes far beyond the classroom.

“This award isn’t just for me – it’s for the children who have found new hope, the tutors who go the extra mile and the families who put their trust in us. I’ve seen firsthand how education can transform lives, and to be recognised by such a respected organisation as EWiF means the world.”

Lynne’s leadership has been especially inspiring in the face of personal adversity. Despite the challenges of the last 18 months, including illness in her family and the loss of a dear friend and fellow franchisee, she has remained a pillar of strength and compassion. Balancing business success with her role as a mother and mentor, Lynne continues to lead with grace and resilience.

“As a female entrepreneur, I’ve lived and breathed every stage of the educational journey alongside the students we support,” said Lynne. “It’s a testament to the incredible potential that lies in combining purpose with perseverance.”

The EWiF Awards ceremony held in May, celebrated women from across the UK franchising sector for their outstanding achievements, with Lynne being presented the award by Tutor Doctor’s global president, Frank Milner.
